I use hypnotherapy to help people find the emotional causes of current issues of concern. Once we find those problems together, we then desensitize them, gain insight, and help make cognitive changes.
I specialize in the treatment of Chronic Illness including Tinnitus, as well as Anxiety, Fears, and Phobias. Chronic illnesses include Fibromyalgia, Environmental Illness, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I feel that focusing on a few key issues in my practice allows me to be more effective and experienced, which gives you the best probability for improvement.
Our initial session is approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours in length, where we will discuss why you have come, your goals, expectations, and personal case history. You will also have the chance to experience some trance and focusing techniques at the end of the session. Subsequent sessions are approximately 90 minutes in length. Frequency is determined through pre-session information that I gather from you as well as our first session together.
Length of therapy varies, and depends on the reason why you have come to see me. In general, the number of sessions is related to the issue and its severity. Most clients utilize 8 to 12 sessions. Although the number is flexible and may vary. I will openly discuss with you from the beginning what I estimate our time together to be.
I work with all ages – as long as it is in my area of specialization. Otherwise I will try to refer you to a qualified therapist or discuss your options.
I am located in Larchmont, New York, a suburb of New York City. My office is conveniently across from the Larchmont Train Station for easy access by train or by car. Free parking.
I do conduct phone and webcam (skype, facetime, etc.) sessions on a regular basis. We would discuss your options to see if you are someone who would respond well to treatment conducted via phone or webcam.
Although, I am considered a ‘reimbursable’ therapist in the state of New York as I am a licensed psychotherapist, I am not an in-network provider. However you may be entitled to receive partial reimbursement for out-of-network services. We will help you explore this possibility with your healthcare provider before we meet.
Daily Monday through Friday with some evening hours. Please call or email us for current availability. 3 Day Intensives may be scheduled on weekends.
Hypnosis is simply a narrowing focus of attention. It allows you to filter out all the outside noise and distractions so you can direct your energy to whatever has brought you to therapy.
Hypnotherapy is an interactive therapeutic process to facilitate physical, emotional, and/or mental health in individuals. An interactive process where you are fully aware and in control of everything you are saying and doing while working with the therapist.
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be used for almost anything and everything that you would want to effect positive change.
A few of the many areas follow:
There are different types and levels of trance. Trance is a state of heightened awareness with a reduced peripheral awareness. It allows you to remain highly focused on whatever the issue is at hand. Hypnotic trance, in it’s deepest state, has allowed doctors to perform surgical procedures without anesthesia. A light trance is all that is necessary to begin the therapeutic process. Focusing techniques have the same effect by allowing you to concentrate on whatever it is you want to work on.
Almost everyone can be hypnotized. For those who find it challenging, I use focusing techniques and tools to facilitate change.
No. My style of hypnosis is more about using focus techniques and tools to allow you to get to the root of the issue and create positive change in the most effective yet empathetic way.
Most people remember everything, because the state of hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness. Some clients report more detail than usual because they are in tune to what is going on around them.
The experience is unique for everyone. Some just feel a little bit more laid back than usual. Some experience a sense of feeling heavier or perhaps lighter, as if you are floating. You may feel a tingling in your hands or feet. Most people are visual, and picture events and situations, while others can hear, smell, or feel familiar objects or situations. Whatever your experience, you’re more open to whatever and wherever you need to go to get better.
